Note to Self:
C.J. Cregg is not as fictional as one might believe; or, Why There Should Be More Hilary Rosens in the World

I have nothing against stay-at-home moms, but this is exactly where my brain went when we all realized that this topic was now, or perhaps ever had been, but was for sure once more and forever again a BIG HUGE THING in public debate.

Ann Romney And Hilary Rosen Carry Out What The West Wing Predicted In 2002

“I love it when the women get involved,” says Bruno Gianelli all smirkily. “…The biggest nonsense issue in the campaign will belong to the women.”

ENTER CLAUDIA JEAN.

CJ: This is not a woman’s issue. This is a dumb woman’s issue.

Context. For the love of christ. CONTEXT.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I have to say while I entirely understand the necessity of walking back her “news making”, I was a bit disappointed that Hilary Rosen did not get a chance (or take a chance) to dive back in and more clearly stipulate/clarify/assert something that was not only a valid point, but at the very least a point whose validity should be up for discussion. Her comment was spirited away to the land of the absurd, and there have we remained ever since.

In any case, I kind of wish CJ’s line was Rosen’s slogan which could then be made into some sort of t-shirt that I could proceed to buy and not wear but nonetheless feel smug about owning.
